Welcome to Building Probable! 👋

The built environment is the oldest technology problem humanity has. We still haven’t solved it.

Construction productivity has been declining for decades while manufacturing and tech have scaled exponentially. Yet, Our industry’s response to tech has largely been to rebrand the same slow workflows with “AI”.

We think that’s about to change. We want to understand how and why.

Building Probable is written by Libo and Pyline.

Libo is a designer and programmer who has worked across architecture, real estate, and tech at KPF, WeWork, CBRE, and Meta.

Pyline is an architect who loves tearing apart how buildings actually get built and operated.

Together, we sit at the intersection where the physical world meets the digital tools that reshape it.

We write about the technology, design decisions, business models, and policy forces that determine what gets built and what doesn’t. We go deep on how things work, because every nuance in the tools has a chance to impact the world.

If you’ve ever wondered why PDF is the way it is, why Costco is building housing, or what AI actually changes (and doesn’t) about designing and constructing buildings, this is the newsletter for you.
